Building Thinking Classrooms

“If students aren’t thinking, everything is difficult. If students are thinking almost anything is possible,” states Peter Liljedahl, author of Building Thinking Classrooms. In this workshop, we will utilize the NCTM teaching practices, specifically emphasizing Implement tasks that promote reasoning and problem-solving, to engage in meaningful ways to create a student-centered classroom where students will collaborate and build positive math identities.

Building Thinking Classrooms (Math)

This course will utilize the eight NCTM teaching practices, emphasizing how to Implement tasks that promote reasoning and problem-solving. “If students aren’t thinking, everything is difficult. If students are thinking almost anything is possible,” states Peter Liljedahl, author of Building Thinking Classrooms. In this workshop, we will engage in meaningful ways to create a student-centered classroom where students will collaborate and build positive math identities. In-Person Session: This PLO will be held in person, so there is no Zoom link or Meeting ID. Be sure to arrive before the scheduled start time in order to find parking, and to give yourself time to find your meeting room before the session begins. If you show up more than 10 minutes after the start time you will not be admitted, and will need to register for another Professional Learning session. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration two working days prior to the event
