This workshop is designed to assist local educational agencies in developing strategies for implementing conflict mediation and De-escalation techniques. De-escalation techniques can be an effective intervention tool that not only helps individuals who are in crisis but also reduces school liability and injury. This training will teach participants various skills, such as understanding the nature of interpersonal conflicts, communication, anger management, negotiation, and peer mediation. Participants will learn strategies to run an effective conflict mediation meeting with follow-up tiered interventions. The second part of the workshop will provide participants with communication skills to help de-escalate volatile situations while maintaining the wellbeing of others.
