The Kern County Superintendent of Schools Tobacco Use Prevention and Education (TUPE) is delighted to offer Diversity from the Inside Out 2.0. This is a student-driven alternative to suspension for tobacco use and vaping.
In this day-long, intensive and experiential training, you will:
Explore how differing attitudes, opinions and beliefs on the part of both teachers and students impact the classroom environment and school climate;
Examine how implicit and explicit beliefs impact our ability to create and sustain positive, universal, and equitable school-wide norms and standards for appropriate behavior;
Increase your understanding of how tobacco companies use systemic inequities to target vulnerable populations, including children, teens, and communities of color;
Learn how implicit bias can lead to unintentional inequities in school discipline;
Develop an alternative to suspension program for tobacco and vaping that empowers students to influence peers and younger students in positive and exciting ways; and
Harness the strength, power, and creativity that comes from our acknowledging and celebrating our diversity.
