This training program for school-based mental health professionals aims to define and enhance participant roles in threat assessment teams (TATs) to prevent targeted violence in K-12 schools. It covers the integration of TATs into school safety frameworks, the impact of neuroscience research, and intervention effectiveness. The training reviews components of behavioral threat assessments, the purpose of school threat assessments, the role of mental health professionals, research-informed elements, and the five stages of a threat assessment. It supplements but does not replace the official Behavioral Threat Assessment Training by the US Department of Education, incorporating lessons from past school violence incidents. |
