In 2022, Child Welfare Agencies across the state of California received, about 450,000 reports of child maltreatment. Of those, almost ½ were General Neglect. Families living in poverty are more likely to get reported to child welfare agencies. In 2023, legislation was enacted to reduce penalizing poverty. |
